"D-War"'s predecessor, last year's "The Host" is now an attraction in Indian cinemas. BONG Joon-ho's monster film is successfully attracted 72,500 spectators in five days since its release on 62 screens.

"The Host" is Korea's most successful film to date and a sequel has been announced by its producer Chungeorahm, the follow-up should be in cinemas next year; however, BONG won't direct.

Celebrated director LEE Joon-ik will next film Nimeun Mon Gose (English translation: "Someone Dear is Far Away"), about a woman who sets out to search for her missing-in-action husband during the Vietnam War. She decides to become a member of an entertainment group lined-up to give shows in Vietnam for soldiers. The melodrama is a co-production between Tiger Pictures and Achim Pictures.

Beware of the wrath of the Korean teeny bopper.

The cable TV show "School of Rock" last week, Lee Hyeok, 24, told his costars that national figure skating champion Kim Yu-Na had rejected his friendship request on the social networking site http://www.cyworld.com. Lee, of the boy band Super Junior, claimed she declined his offer while the two were shooting a school uniform advertisement together.

The Korean Independent Animation Filmmakers Association (KIAFA) announced on Aug. 6 films that made it to the main competition in this year's Indie-Anifest (Chair: Na, Ki-Yong).

Under the slogan, "Breaking the Ice", the Indie-Anifest 2007 selected a total of 32 finalists, 12 in the general category and 20 in the student category.

Actor Park Joong-hoon and musician Horan will host the opening ceremony for the 3rd Jecheon International Music and Film Festival.

The two will host the opening ceremony to be held at the Outdoor Theater at Cheongpung Lake in Jecheon, North Chungcheon Province on August 9. Park is an acting member of the JIMFF organizing committee while Horan is a member of popular vocal group Clazziquai.

The 30th Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) closed its 10-day run July 28th with director KIM Tai-sik picking up one of the events main awards. The Emerging Director in Narrative Feature Award was given to KIM for his feature debut "Driving With My Wife's Lover". The prize honors the best narrative feature film by a first or second-time narrative feature filmmaker.
