The Broadcast Worldwide (BCWW), an event that will highlight the popularity of Korean culture and bring together broadcasting content from various corners of the world, will be held August 29 through September 3 at the COEX in Seoul.

As usual, dozens of reporters and photographers yesterday attended a news conference at the KT Art Hall in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, where organizers announced the outline of the forthcoming Seoul International Film Festival. What was unusual was that when organizers announced that it was time for a Q&A session, no reporter ventured out to throw a question -- not even one as banal as, "Would you explain the main section in more detail?"...see more

The Pusan (Busan) International Film Festival (PIFF) has launched the Asia Cinema Fund, a program to support independent film projects, the festival's organizing committee announced Tuesday at a Seoul hotel. PIFF, Korea's most celebrated cinematic event, will hold its 12th meeting between Oct. 4-12 in the southern port city.

The first half of this year saw some furrowed brows in Korea's film industry, but the summer is looking better with some Korean productions doing well at the box office.
The crowd pleasers include a mix of sci-fi, drama, and comedy.

Korea is home to Pororo, an animated penguin whose only dream is to be able to fly. In 2004, when the cartoon "Pororo the Little Penguin" hit television screens in France through TF1, the country's most popular network, the aspiring penguin was welcomed with a record-high 47 percent viewing rate. While many are looking forward to seeing LaBeouf, who was last seen in the blockbuster "Transformers", Korean audiences will be interested to know that a Korean-American actor plays a key role in "Disturbia".

Child actor Yoo Seung-ho and actress Jo Jeong-eun will star in the earlier episodes of the new historical drama series 'King and I'.

In the series which will feature the story of Eunuch Cheo Seon from King Moonjong of the Joseon era to King Yeonsan, Yoo Seung-ho will play young Sungjong while Jo Jeong-eun will play the early days of Beodeuli.
